I would like to introduce our two-year initiative to bring Japanese-specific text layout to Android. This summer, the androidx.text:text-vertical library, which provides rendering features such as ruby, emphasis dots, vertical text, and tate-chu-yoko (horizontal-in-vertical text), finally reached its stable version alongside its Jetpack Compose version!
